Your favorite music video

Your homework this weekend is to watch as many videos as you can on ITUNES, MTV, MTV2, VH1, or Fuse. I want you to try and come up with an interesting concept for your music video and watching some other videos might help you create something excellent. Please be ready to describe your treatment next week in class.

I also have one more question:
What is your favorite music video and why? Please answer this questions in a few sentences. Click on the COMMENT link down below. This is an easy way to get some participation points.

My favorite video is Sabatoge by the Beastie Boys because it reminds me of all the cop shows I used to watch when I was a kid like the Streets of San Fransisco, Starsky and Hutch, and Magnum PI etc. The video is a great model on how to create interesting and quick sequences while at the same time telling multiple stories.
My favorite video when I was little was Michael Jackson's Thriller because of it's epic scope. At the time nobody had made a successful mini-movie for a music video.

My favortite music video right at this very moment is 'Club Foot' by Kasabian.  It has a rich theme of Eastern European politics and a raw visual look.  It tells a story in a non-linear way.  You see images that give you a hint of what is to come, without knowing what it is that's coming.  You can tell by looking at the video what the temperature is outside, and that there is conflict in the air.  It's a great example of visually setting a mood and telling a story.  Not to mention the great use of editing and lighting.  The light source used at the end of the video comes from one bright source that cast shadows and create a stark contrast with dark.

My favorite music video is the Chemical Brothers song Elektrobank, directed by Spike Jonze. While I do not care for the song very much, the video itself is quite entertaining. It shows a gymnastics competition between two girls that goes to the beat of the song. Both the gymnastics and shots are impressive, making for a enjoyable music video.
