Your favorite music video

Your homework this weekend is to watch as many videos as you can on ITUNES, MTV, MTV2, VH1, or Fuse. I want you to try and come up with an interesting concept for your music video and watching some other videos might help you create something excellent. Please be ready to describe your treatment next week in class.

I also have one more question:
What is your favorite music video and why? Please answer this questions in a few sentences. Click on the COMMENT link down below. This is an easy way to get some participation points.

My favorite video is Sabatoge by the Beastie Boys because it reminds me of all the cop shows I used to watch when I was a kid like the Streets of San Fransisco, Starsky and Hutch, and Magnum PI etc. The video is a great model on how to create interesting and quick sequences while at the same time telling multiple stories.
My favorite video when I was little was Michael Jackson's Thriller because of it's epic scope. At the time nobody had made a successful mini-movie for a music video.

I would have to agree sabatoge is my favorite video as well because it just seems more laid back not professional done and is easy to watch not to many jerky shots and it was also really fluid with its motion. Ive like the beastie boys ever since i was little they are my favorite artists

My favorite music video is Bullet and a Target by Citizen Cope. I like it because it has a lot of different shots. They are not the all the same kind of shots. I like that there are a lot of different scenes to the video.

"Helena" by My Chemical Romance. The idea is uber intense I it keeps me intrigued and glued to the screen when it is on. The song is alright but I think I could watch the video over and over before got bored of it. The fact that it involves salsa and other forms of dance to this rockish/emo beat is really cool as well...

My favorite video would be "I'm not okay" by My Chemical Romance because I really just all the different stuff in the video. I also love how its the ones who are rejected who win in the in. And of course I love it when they beat up the mascot.

My favorite video is the real slim shady by eminem. I really like that video because i like how there are all those people that loook like eminem but he is the real slim shady. It goes really good with the song. I have seen to many videos that have nothing to do with what the song is saying. But i feel like this video goes very well with the son and with what eminem is saying in the song.

My favortite music video right at this very moment is 'Club Foot' by Kasabian.  It has a rich theme of Eastern European politics and a raw visual look.  It tells a story in a non-linear way.  You see images that give you a hint of what is to come, without knowing what it is that's coming.  You can tell by looking at the video what the temperature is outside, and that there is conflict in the air.  It's a great example of visually setting a mood and telling a story.  Not to mention the great use of editing and lighting.  The light source used at the end of the video comes from one bright source that cast shadows and create a stark contrast with dark.

My favorite music video is the Chemical Brothers song Elektrobank, directed by Spike Jonze. While I do not care for the song very much, the video itself is quite entertaining. It shows a gymnastics competition between two girls that goes to the beat of the song. Both the gymnastics and shots are impressive, making for a enjoyable music video.

I actually have several favorite music videos.
"Shut Up!" by Simple Plan, the fact that you have this Pop/Punk group playing at this nice hotel dinning room is pretty different. It also has some humor involved, as in that they are playing infront of all of these people that are very nicly dressed up.
"Walkie-Talkie Man" by Steriogram, the music video you can see on their website, not iTunes version, is pretty clever, the whole thing reminds me of Gumby. Even though it is yarn. But the fact that it looks like it took forever to shoot.
"1985" by Bowling For Soup, it's just entertaining to see these guys dress up as different rock stars from the 80's is pretty funny. And it pretty well shot.
"Slow Hands" by Interpol, I know it's not one of your favorite types of music videos, but the special effects in it are just great. The fact that you see some band members in slow motion, and others moving at regular, and fast foreward speeds.

I really don't watch music videos, at all. So I'm going to go with the only one I've ever seen; Thriller by Micheal Jackson. That man is a genius. His dance moves rock my socks off.

My favorite video is Mr. Brightside by The Killers because the message behind the whole video and the ideas of how they shot the video by putting it all together was really interesting.

My favorite video is the live video of "Hotel California," by the Eagles. I like it because it starts with a pan of the whole arena, then goes black just in time for the stage lights to go on. It then fades between a lit cigarette lighter, the band playing, and the audience. This creates a feelin of being there.

My favorite video of all time is by the verb. I don't know what the video is titled but it is the one where he is just walking down the street just shoving people and walking over cars. It's pretty sweet.

I have two favorite music videos the first is The Scientist by Coldplay and Sweetness by Jimmy Eat World. The Scientist is awesome because its a kind of story told backwards. Sweetness is pretty cool because of the special effects it has.

MY favorite music has to be "Smack my Bitch Up" by The Prodigy. The song is great and the happenings on screen make this video an awsome and intense audio-visual experience. I wish we could watch this at school, cause it is trippy.

My favorite music video is "ordinary people" by john legend. The song is ok but i like the black and white and the contrast and the fighting with the big piano and singer in the background.

My favorite vidoe is either "The Hardest Button to Button" by the white stripes or "Hyperballad" by Bjork. THBTB is such a great video because it feels so creative and raw in its simplistic creation. Hyperballad just fits the ambience of the music so perfectly I can't stop watching it. Oh, and I also dig big on "Title and Registration" by Death cab for Cutie. The idea that his organs are made of paper makes me think about the deeper things in life...

My favorite video is drop it like it's hot by snoop dogg feat. pharell. The reason why i like it is because the video is in black and white and the shots are really cool

Simone206 said...

I my favorite vieo is drop it like it's hott by snoop dogg featuring pharell. I love the backround layout, how it's black and white. The shots are also really interesting, they did a really good job of making the video. They had one mess up on it but other than that it's a great video and the song is great to.

My favorite video is The Widow by The Mars Volta. I really like the colors used in the video and the way it is shot. There are some really great transitions from clip to clip, they put in really crazy designs and things.
But I would also have to say that I love all the Tool videos they are really well thought out, althogh very confusing at times, they are very artistic.

I like the music video for "Santa Baby", performed by Rev Run and the Chirstmas All-Stars. Some cool kids in your class last semester did it. It was the funniest thing i have ever seen. They are really cool, i wish i was one of them.

-Grant

I also like Fat Boy Slims "Praise Me", because it is freakin hilarious how they dance, and it isn't all professional with bling bling and crazy effects.

Out of the music videos we were able to watch in class, I think my favorite video would be "They Might Be Giants - Experimental Film" because it is done in a cartoon style by the same people that do HomeStarRunner, and also depicts a character trying to make a movie (like what we're doing). The video itself is also odd, but very entertaining.

I have several favorite music videos. One of them would have to be for Fight song by Marilyn Manson. I like this video because of the story and the soical commantary it speeks of. The video is of a football game between the "gothic punk" kids and then the clean cut normal highschool football team. This video was released right after Marilyn Manson was taking a lot of heat for school shootings.
Also on a lighter side most of the foo fighters videos would also be some of my favorites. They have a great sence of humor and always incorprate it in their videos. it always makes a better video with it looks like they have had fun making it.
but my favorite video is also my favorite song. Nirvana's Hear Shape box. The video is very artistic and Kurt's Work on it is plain to see.

After reading some of these I have to change my decision, They Might Be Giants - Experimental Film is my favorite music video of all time. It's awesome. I can't even explain why it's so cool, it just is.

I love the music video for Trouble by Coldplay. I feel the style of animation really fits the music, and the video properly portrays what the music is trying to say. I also thing it is visually beautiful, and reminds me of the Nightmare Before Christmas, which is my favorite movie.

I like the video My Band by D12 because of the story. It goes with the song and makes fun of the artists. Its really funny and there are a lot of awkward scenes like when Eminem is a girl and when fat guy takes off his shirt. It shows how the other guys arent as famous as Eminem and they just go with it.
