Process Video

My Video/Process Video                                 

For this assignment you have two options:
1. You will show or explain to how to do, make, or create something interesting. This should be a process you are familiar with or an activity that engages you or for which you have a large amount of passion.
2. You will make a more abstract or arty video that emulates the passion derived from participating in an activity.

You can add narration or you can edit the shots to music (or both). Feel free to use the Haircut video and Auto Videos as  templates for this assignment.

Challenge: how can you make the process or activity interesting for an audience?

  • Video should be 1-2 minutes in length.
  • 20-25 shots total
  • All shots are focused, white balanced, and steady.
  • Camera angles are diverse and unique.
  • Video edits are made on movement and there is proper pacing.
  • B-Roll is both interesting and used effectively with audio.
  • Rule of thirds, proper headroom, and leading the subject used throughout video.
  • Audience can hear all music and any narration throughout video.
  • Narration is easy to hear.
  • Narration is effective and well written.
  • Video fades in and out.
  • Overall, the video is entertaining to watch.

Raw Footage is due at the end of the period next Thursday, May 7. Tuesday the 5th and Thursday the 7th are shooting shooting days. 
You may work with multiple classmates on this project, but everyone shoots and edits their own Process Video.
You can leave campus next Tuesday or Thursday to record footage if your parents send me an email telling me it is OK.
You can use a cell phone or iPad to shoot this project.

Exporting Videos From Premier Pro

Exporting From Adobe Premiere Pro
These are the settings to export HD Quality Video


Preset=HD 1080p 29.97
Name your file in the Output Name. 

Make sure you look where you are saving the file. 

Click Export
Find your project in the area you saved it on the computer.
Next, drop your video in the Vidstore Server. Don't forget to use the Naming Convention: 2-mitchellt-Sequence.

Connect to server
Name: scvideo
Password: Outback23
SC Video classes
Place in Period 1 or 2

Music Video Peer Edit Instructions

Each person will need a piece of paper.
You will write your name on the paper at the top. You will write the editor's name above the questions.

Peer Editing Questions for Music Video:
 Please answer the following questions using complete sentences:

1.  How is the pacing?  Slow? Fast?  What could improve? What would help make the video more entertaining?
2.  Are the shots steady or do some shots need work?  Be specific.
3. How many jump cuts (if any) does the video have?  All jump cuts will need to be re-edited or even re-shot.
4.  Is the video edited on subject or camera movement?
5.  Do the edits go to the beat of the song? 
6.  Is the story or concept easy to follow? Why or why not?
7. If there is lip syncing does the lip syncing match the words? If not, where does the editor need to make changes?

8.  Overall what would you suggest to make this video better?  Please list three detailed items.

When you are finished please conference with your partner. Turn in the Peer Edit sheets after the conference.

How to turn in your Three-Minute Movie

First, make sure your video has music, credits, sound effects, fade in/out, and is in between 2:30 and 3:00 long.
Next, upload to YouTube. Please add keywords "Shorecrest High School", "Mr. Mitchell", and "Video Production".
Next, click here to enter your video with the Seattle Times. You will need to YouTube URL.
Next, email me the YouTube URL so I can watch these projects tonight.
Entries must be completely turned in by 4:00 PM today. Projects not turned in by 4:00 will not be graded.
