Mr. Mitchell is going to buy the tickets in advance so you need to bring your money Tuesday or Thursday if you are interested in going. Tickets are $9.

Please let Mr. Ballew or Mr. Mitchell know if you are interested in attending ASAP.

Shorecrest Video Students

Mr. Ballew is in today and I have asked him to help me keep everyone focused on the final project. Treatments are due at 8:20 for first period and at 1:05 for 5th period. After you are done, you need to start on your script. The script format link is located below.

For the rest of the semester anyone caught playing games during class time will lose a point off of their final grade every single time it happens. No excuses and most likely I won't even tell you I saw you. Mr. Ballew will begin enforcing this today.
To pass this class you all must pass your final project because it is worth double the amount of points as any other project. Therefore, it is in your best interest to stay ahead at all times.

Thanks for being cooperative today. We will watch commercials Wednesday.

Music Video Due Dates

The last day to work on music videos in class is Monday April 18th. This will be the export day.
We will watch the music videos on the following days:
Shorewood April 19th
Shorecrest April 20th

Your next assignment is a 60 second commercial. Usually this is a school related assignment, however, I am leaving the product or event open-ended this time. In other words, you can choose anything that is school appropriate.
Your commercial must be exactly 60 seconds.
School-related commercials are still my preference.
Please start thinking about what you would like to create because this assignment moves along very quickly.

Sabotage Assignment

Camera Movement and Exciting Editing Techniques

Directions: Get into groups of three or four. Quickly decide on an action-oriented storyline that you can shoot fairly fast and on the go. Next, please shoot the following groups of shots together as listed below. When you are finished, please import your shots into IMOVIE and assemble them in any order you wish (as long as the groups of shots themselves stay the same). Each person in the group should import onto their own computer. Next, add intense or high-energy music to your clips and export. We will watch a majority of these videos in class.

Grading: To achieve an A on this assignment you must not have any jump cuts. Also, please make sure each shot has proper headroom, leading the subject, and rule of thirds etc.

Purpose: To practice effective camera steadiness and composition.

• Group 1: LS to MS to CU of one subject (also called the 1,2,3 formula)
• Group 2: pan right to tilt up to CU and then zoom out to MS
• Group 3: Dolly out from one subject and truck right to moving subject
• Group 4: Shoot LS of main action, then an ECU, and then a CU of a reaction shot
• Group 5: Zoom out on a moving object from CU to LS
• Group 6: Pan right with moving subject, POV of subject, place camera on ground and have subject move towards camera
• Group 7: Have two subjects in a simulated discussion. Cut back and forth between the two subjects using OTS, POV, CU, MS, LS, and CU Reaction shots
• Group 8: Combine four shots of your choice together

You CAN add more shots if you wish.

(If you are stuck without an idea, just think of creating a high-energy video like Sabotage)
